Up Against the Wall

A film by Eileen Thalenberg and Gail McIntyre

It has been 20 years since the world watched spellbound, as the Berlin wall came down. In the euphoria that followed, it seemed as if walls were a thing of the past, especially in the new era of globalization. However in a post-911 world it was clear that sophisticated, hi-tech walls were in fact proliferating around the world.

Up Against the Wall poses the question: do wall works? This documentary focuses on three hot spots: the wall separating Israel and the West Bank, the ’tortilla wall’ between the United States and Mexico and the walls that protect fortress Europe.
